VISJET & VISFLOOD: Software for Environmental Hydraulic Modeling and Visualization
نویسنده
چکیده
We present two general interactive PC-based modeling and visualization software systems developed for the study of two types of environmental water flows: buoyant jet mixing and urban drainage problems. VISJET (http://www.aoe-water.hku.hk/visjet) is arguably the most robust software with advanced graphics for the prediction of mixing and transport of effluent discharges into a stratified crossflow. The prediction engine is a Lagrangian model for buoyant jets with three-dimensional trajectories, and is based on extensive basic experiments and turbulence model calculations. It can be used in outfall design and environmental impact assessment, and as an educational or training tool. VISFLOOD (http://www.aoe-water.hku.hk/visflood) is based on the numerical solution of the Saint-Venant equations, and caters for the simulation of unsteady flood propagation in urban drainage systems. Both software systems are fully interactive with data interrogation; the 3D visualization is fully integrated with the model engine, and enables the user to appreciate the context of the problem in a most effective way. Both models have been well-validated against laboratory and field data, and have been applied to many actual engineering projects. This software product is an outcome of a grant by the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF).

Building information modeling can help in predicting the energy efficiency in future based on dynamic patterns obtained by visualization of data. The aim of this study was to investigate the effective parameters of energy consumption using BIM technology which can evaluate the buildings energy performance. First, three forms of general states in the building were modeled to evaluate the propose...
متن کاملOptimization of Outfall Systems in RO Desalination Plants (Case study: Bandar Abbas Desalination)
The outfall system is a medium to discharge the liquid waste generated by desalination plants, refineries and power plants to the marine environment. Optimal design and operation of an outfall system reduces the concentration of pollutants returned to the marine environment. Numerous researches have been carried out to study the different elements of outfall systems and related design basics. T...
متن کاملProcedural Modeling as an Analytical Tool for 3D Survey in Urban Design Assessment
This paper examines procedural modeling as a tool for 3D modeling creation. Procedural modeling historically has been used for 3D visualization of natural features, but with the release of the software CityEngine in 2008, the technology can easily be adopted also in problem domains dealing with urban environments. Then, we will examine and compare two types of modeling, traditional and proc...

متن کاملInvestigating the vulnerability downstream area of Taleghan dam due to dam failure
Due to the immense damage caused by dam failure, especially dams constructed near large cities, it is necessary to consider the breaking phenomena as well as studying and designing different parts of the dam. For this purpose, the hydrograph of the outflow due to dam failure must be identified according to size of the fracture and then flood routing, and flood zone must be determined based on t...
